The Most Toxic Towns in Rhode Island
A recent review of state and federal data reveals the locations and sites of various toxic waste sites in towns in Rhode Island. Much of the local based pollution sources come from old landfills, textile mills, industrial buildings and other waste sites that had been contaminated prior to modern environmental laws. The communities with the highest concentration of toxic pollution sources are the most urbanized areas of the state. A chart completed with towns, amount and type of pollution sites and pollution per square mile is found with the article.
